Conversation with Maddie on the way home from the gym this morning

Maddie: Mom, can I go to Annie's house?
Me: Her mom has to call and invite you. Remember? We can't just show up at their house.
Maddie: But mom, Annie called me on her cell phone. She says I can come!

Um... how can I say no to THAT??
